Had enough of rugby New Zealand? NO WAY! The Rugby Sevens is about to kick off and Wellington is putting on a show to match the 2011 Rugby World Cup!

Sixteen countries are about to go head to head in a rugby match of 7 players a side, playing for 7 minutes each half.

The tournament starts on the 3rd and ends on the 4th of February and is one of nine HSBC Sevens World Series tournaments held every year and Transfercar wants to take you there for FREE!

It’s fast, fun and lets countries show off the best of the best!

If you’re up for a good time and need a ride, check out our Wellington relocations for free cars and campervans going to and from the city during that time (some vehicles are listed from Lower Hutt which is still within the Wellington region)! (more…)

Arthurs PassOften relocations (as they are called in New Zealand) or standbys (as they are often called in Australia), are seen as short term travel options that get you from A to B far cheaper than taking on a regular rental deal.

Over the past few months I’ve begun to see the relocating trend change. As the recession has passed and people have become more budget conscious, transferring vehicles have become more popular.

However, instead of Transfercar being a means of securing a quick relocation between towns and cities, the trend is now swinging towards travellers creating their own mini packages from a mixture of free rental deals available online. (more…)

Who would have thought that the humble carpooling idea would emerge into a fully fledged, environmentally conscious transportation alternative.

Meet Jayride: the website that allows vehicle owners to put their spare seats up for rent. Well not so much as rent but short term lease.

With its humble beginnings in Auckland, New Zealand some 2 short years ago, Jayride is now the place to go to find a cheap, spare seat in vehicles travelling between towns and cities all over New Zealand and Australia. (more…)

One thing Transfercar motorists may not be aware of in Australia (and many other countries) is that there are road tolls on many motorways and bridges.

Unfortunately, many tourists renting vehicles are unaware that they are responsible for the road toll charges. They continue to travel, oblivious to he fact that they are clocking up tolls that will ultimately be debited from their credit cards later on. They are then surprised to be slapped with an unpleasant bill at the end of the rental period. What’s worse, is that these charges will normally include an administration fee for each road toll paid, making the overall bill extremely high.

When renting a car or campervan, the hirer is fully responsible for road toll fees. This is clearly stipulated in the information that is handed out with every rental agreement, which explains road toll procedures and how to make payments. (more…)

Every now and then someone will say to me, “Why would anyone relocate a vehicle” and I respond by explain all the benefits of using a cheap form of transport such as Transfercar and when it is a viable option (and not) for both vehicle owners and travellers.

Firstly, just to clarify: A relocation vehicle, one-way hire or standby car is a vehicle (normally a rental) that has been dropped off at a specific location and needs to be brought back to another place or depot by a specific time.

Transfercar is an online vehicle relocation service that operates in both New Zealand and Australia that services this need. (more…)

Did you know that we at Transfercar have a really vast array of people using our relocation vehicles? Even though English speakers are our number one relocaters, we also have a large number of German speaking travellers stopping by as do our French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese visitors.

As far as age groups are concerned, we have young travellers in their 20s moving between universities and tourists of all ages as well as seasoned drivers looking for a bit of fun and with time to spare.

We’ve helped film crews get between locations and earthquake victims move out of town. We’ve also relocated sports teams, backpackers and more recently, people stranded at airports due to ash clouds grounding their flights.

What’s best about our service, is we often see not just travellers but locals getting the opportunity to take a luxury 2 – 6 berth campervan or motorhome which may not have previously been possible had they had to pay a full daily rate.

We love being in this business and hope you get a chance (if you haven’t already) to make use of our service as it really is a fantastic way to take a break away from the daily grind.

If you are up for the ride, check out our FREE cars and campervans in New Zealand and Australia!
