Getting between Auckland and Christchurch is relatively easy. You can fly, bus, train or drive and the distance to drive between these locations is around 1050kms. However each option has its good and bad points and varies in cost.
Before you decide which option you want to take, you should consider what your travel plans and budget are and weigh up the pros and cons of each alternative.
I’ve done a little research and come up with the following information. Remember that the cost of travel changes during the year so just keep this as an average calculation benchmark. (more…)

Who would have thought that the humble carpooling idea would emerge into a fully fledged, environmentally conscious transportation alternative.

With its humble beginnings in Auckland, New Zealand some 2 short years ago, Jayride is now the place to go to find a cheap, spare seat in vehicles travelling between towns and cities all over New Zealand and Australia. (more…)

…do a classic Kiwi holiday in your own country?
So instead of that long weekend or mid week somewhere on the islands, stay put in good old Aotearoa. Don’t get me wrong-a tropical beach with an abundance of cocktails at the tips of your fingers still sounds great, but haven’t we just crash landed in the era where the proverbial belt gets tightened a bit? So why not spend your well earned kiwi dollar right here in kiwi land and with doing so support the national economy? (more…)

RWC New Zealand
As the Rugby World cup kicks in, more questions are being raised about whether there will be any relocation vehicles, or any rental vehicles available at all for that matter, and if so from where. To be honest, I really do wish I had a crystal ball (as do many other businesses I’m sure) but I don’t (otherwise I would be filthy rich and not sitting at my desk right now
).
With an estimated 80,000 visitors said to be arriving into New Zealand for the World Cup Tournament, we can only imagine that many of them will be renting cars and campervans across the country. We don’t know however, where or when they will be arriving and leaving as many will likely use this time to travel the country.
What I can do, is tentatively make some guesses as to where vehicles may be headed and where they may also get stranded.
So if we look at the Rugby World Cup 2011 Match Schedule we can roughly calculate where RWC fans will be headed based on the most popular matches and teams with the largest followers (national and international visitors). (more…)
